In Traditional Chinese Medicine, reishi mushrooms were known as "The Mushroom of Immortality" and were reserved for privileged royalty.
Recently, edible mushrooms have been studied for their beta-glucan compounds, which have been shown to have properties that modulate the immune system. One randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study of 124 participants found that those given beta-glucans showed a significant increase in T-cells, which are critical for a healthy immune system.*

Keeping with tradition
Mushrooms begin as spores, develop into mycelium, and sprout as fruiting bodies (i.e., the mushroom caps you know well). Our blend is made from the fruiting body, because it contains the most nutrients. We extract these nutrients using a gentle extraction process, similar to mushroom tea preparation.
We source our mushrooms from China, the original source of world mushroom cultivation. Ours are grown in greenhouses in the Fengyang mountains, far from industrial smoke and pollution. Our supplier has a long history with mushroom sourcing, and has worked with local growers in China for over twenty years.
